I just ordered wheels and tires ! The wheels Konig Rewind’s are on back order until Aug. 3. But I have it all sorted by the second week of August. I am a lso getting some Dunlop Direzza’s to help keep me stuck to the pavement.
The alignment was mostly a success
, the
front end is good but the passenger
rear is out 1 degree in toe, likely due to worn bushings... which I will need to order now...

Nice.
And thanks for reminding me I need to stop being lazy and sell the set of 16x7 4 bolt Koenig wheels taking up space in my garage before all the cars they fit are no longer viable.

Oh really, are they similar to these? My datsun is a 4 x 114.3 bolt pattern...

Oh gosh a classic small sports car on minilite-style wheels that’s never been done before

Nope, I’m pretty much the first person ever to do this. Also noticed the neighbor got a mustang/camero 60's muscle car thingy and guess what? TORQUE THRUSTS.

No I didn’t know they were a thing, running about $60 per wheel more than KONIG though... I really like the 4 spokes, if they had them in a 16 I’d be tempted. That is a unique and period correct wheel for my car. There are just not that many good tire choices for a 195/60 R15...

I bet you could go with 205/50, no? That would open up #allthetirechoices

I need the 16" wheels to match the OEM diameter. The 205/50 R15 is too small in diameter.

I do like those, I ended up picking the Enkei Comps. With an orange car I liked the gunmetal.

I have wondered what tires I would get next, I think I’ll go a lot softer since I don’t put many miles on it and the ones I have will be replaced before they ever wear out in terms of tread depth. I have Toyo Versado Noir right now.

Life is too short to not run sticky tires. The rear alignment has me concerned tho. I’m going to order rear control stem bushings and am hoping that’s the issue. Otherwise it means someone backed this car into a curb at some point.

They’re the “lace” wheels.
They were the summer wheels on my Focus ZX3 college car. Wrong pattern for your use. They’re 4x100/4x108.
Plan is to put them on Craigslist for $200 just to get them out of the garage. Some kid with a Honda might want them.

I still have a slight vibration at 65mph or so, my wheels have been balanced with a road force and they did my drive shaft. It’s not huge but it bugs me, I don’t feel it on the roads I usually drive on. My wife would never take a trip in it, she doesn’t really like it and neither does the dog. I don’t want to sell it but it’s looking like a solo driving experience.

If you are ever going to sell it, they are super hot items right now. From what I can tell you have a 50-60k car... You could get a really nice Porsche Caymen for that.

It’s kind of a weird market, I see fixed up 71's in good shape for $30k sometimes $40k and then I see a totally restored one for less than that. I have no idea if those cars on ebay are selling for $40k. Mine isn’t a series 1 but it’s the next best on the list I guess. I wouldn’t buy a new sports car, I would combine the Mercedes and Z into a sedan rally car. Something I could set up for fun driving but also something we could take a trip in and has room in the back seat for the dog. And of course my wife wants to spend time in. I just don’t know if I could sell the Z, saying it and handing it over are two things. But I have the truck too and that is another niche altogether. I kind of feel like I need to combine the other two categories. I was going for sports, sedan, truck, DD. But it’s a lot of work sometimes and it would be a different story if I had space at a house to just have them parked. I was thinking of an MK1 XJ6, has to be green and engine swapped for reliability and power. Not much out there in that category gives me the fizz. I don’t know! If I knew I could sell the Z for that much I might have to, I don’t know the best place to sell it either.

Snuck a pic. It’s a Mach 1 fast back maybe a 429 emblem on the hood.

There is an early 71' Pierre restoration on BaT now. Must be very early 71' since it looks like it has all the series 1 stuff. I don’t know about mine, I don’t have the original tranny or carbs, but it’s a good driver car. I never painted the engine bay either. But we did all the hard repairs to the trouble spots.

Oh my. A 69-70 fastback? Just my dream car. If it’s 429 emblem then it’s had an engine swap sine the 428 was the big dog those years (except for the Boss 429 but that wouldn’t be outside) but there ain’t nothing wrong with that.

Have you double checked your rack and pinion steering bushings? My 240z had a similar wobble at speed. After I replaced the bushings with a better aftermarket version, the wobble was gone. Good luck with it.

Oh yeah all of that is all rebuilt under there. It feels like it’s from the back but who knows. I only drive it around the coastal roads anyway.
